The vitamin and mineral content of home-grown plants is much higher than that of those grown in fields or soil. We recommend especially fast-growing herbs and lettuce varieties such as Asian greens, basil, watercress, broccolini, rocket, mizuna leaf lettuce, mustard greens, wheatgrass, chard and a variety of other lettuce and herbs. Radishes, Brussels sprouts, red cabbage and much more can also be grown as microgreens.
It's already clean!
Because your microgreens, herbs, lettuce – or whatever else it is you’re growing – are grown on a natural substrate mat, you won’t need to wash them. This means your delicate little plants won’t lose any of their flavour or nutrients.
And the best bit? You can wash the seed mats in your washing machine on a 60°C cycle and reuse them several times. When the substrate mats become worn out, you can simply toss them in your compost bin, leaving zero waste!
Hydroponic – what’s that?
The plants take root in a hydroponic system with nutrient-enriched water, rather than in soil. The plants can soak up the minerals directly at the roots; they don’t need to be watered first for the minerals to be released from the soil and they are able to absorb the nutrients needed to grow with minimal energy expenditure. The optimal light and water conditions allow your plants to grow about 30% faster than those grown conventionally.
No transport involved
We are concerned by the trend that more and more people are moving to cities and greater metropolitan areas, and that farmland is either overbuilt, over fertilised or overused. With our method, the transport of goods to major supermarkets and your home is reduced, less food gets wasted, your carbon footprint gets smaller and you play an active role in improving the climate.
